Frustrations, etc.

My computer has been increasingly unhappy of late. Briggs believes that it is due to an incompatibility between the hard drive and the motherboard.

The result of this difficulty is that my computer randomly reboots of it’s own accord, in the middle of whatever I’m doing, as abruptly as if the reset button had taken a firm jab.

This morning (afternoon) when I woke up, there was a dialog box on my desktop informing me that my computer had recovered from a serious error and would I like to send an error report? (the undeniable sign that an unauthorized restart occurred in the recent past). I clicked the ‘yes’ button and within seconds…my screen went black and I was told that Windows was saving my settings.

After glaring grouchily at my unimpressed monitors until my desktop bleeped back into view and taking a calming breath, I went about FINALLY getting my financial aid paperwork finished…and as I went to look up my CGPA from SRJC…monitors flickered to black and I had to wait AGAIN. This time with more disastrous results. I lost my Firefox settings (drag and drop, double click to close tabs and myriad other things that I don’t even think of moment to moment), a problem that requires an actual reinstall of the browser and all it’s add-ons. I tried running my Google Browser Sink off my flash drive, but that was just…slow. And cranky.

Anyway…though I have projects galore on the back burner, I’m more than hesitant to attempt anything involving my computer for the mo, sure that if I suffered a crash mid-project (right before a save, as it would surely be) i would actually pick up and hurl my computer, monitors, and anything else that came easily to had across the room. As I relish neither the cleanup nor the inevitable hernia, I think that tonight is definitely a night to curl up in bed with a sketchbook or…perhaps…I don’t know…do some packing? (perish the thought)

Other stuff…found some PJ pants at Target today. Hurray!

  (just the pants)

and

  (only green)

Learned how to make spaghetti and clam sauce from mom, so I won’t be tempted to invite her to visit so she can make me some.

Watched the final episode of Buffy (I started to watch it last night/this morning, but it was late and I was sleepy, so I decided to save it). It always makes me sniffle a little. Poor Spike! And Anya! And that poor First Evil! ;_; haha.

Oh!  And my boots arrived!  Ok…nothing against my other boots–they are sexy and fun and totally cute…

But these are leather instead of Polyurethane.  They have burly soles with metal screws holding them on, instead of tall, girly platforms.  They (I think) have steel toes (either that or they made the leather super had and tough).  Instead of nylon zippers that I am constantly worrying about the strain on, they have  heavy-duty metal zippers.  They smell like leather.  They hug my legs and just in the few minutes wearing that was used to get the laces in place, I could feel the leather’s willingness to mold to my legs and feet.  Good boots.

Anyway, I’m off to be ‘productive’ (see, go out to smoke before getting down to business and getting distracted by traumatic Patricia Highsmith collection I’m reading.)

Later kids…xxxooo!
