What the heck is Labor Day for, anyway?

I can never remember.

Anyway, an eventful weekend so far.

Yesterday, Briggs and I got roped into family moving adventures.  In the morning, his grandma and grandpa were moving into their new place and, like, half the family turned up to help.  There were SO many people there.

However, Briggs’ step brother and wife had decided to move into their new house the same day, so Briggs, Burgandy, their dad and step mom, Barry and I got shanghaied into helping when he called up and whined that no one was coming to help *them* (they hadn’t asked anyone to do so, whereas the other moving party had been planned for over a month.)

SO we went over and dragged stuff from the storage locker into the house, then went with the moving truck to their (mostly not at all packed) apartment and loaded a bunch MORE stuff (tip: if you have big boxes, DON’T fill them with really heavy stuff…especially if you live at the top of a very steep and narrow staircase) and then took THAT stuff over to the new house and unloaded IT.

We were freaking pooped by evening, so Burgandy suggested a fun relaxing evening: we went by her and Barry’s  so they could change and shower, our place so we could do the same, then went to dinner and watched The Bourne Ultimatum from the VIP seats with desserts and mildly alcholic beverages.

Today, Briggs and I mostly vegged, but this evening went to his sister’s for dinner…she had some friends over and I made yummy garlic bread.  After we ate we all played ‘Tutti Fruity’…a viscous card game that, though simple and only requiring players to be able to count to five, caters to both those with fast reflexes and those with stratagizing minds, but especially to those with calloused palms.

Tomorrow there is an area block party that Briggs and I may or may not attend.  For now, however, as soon as Briggs finishes his coffee table construction project, I think it will be time for pudding and Hex.

Later all!
