meh

I slept totally late (respectively) this morning…probably not so good since I have to get up at 6 for school tomorrow, but I have been skimping on sleep just about every night lately and this morning lazing in bed was just heavenly.

Also, for the first time since we brought Nova home, Mercury slept on the bed with us.

After we hunted for her for about an hour last night. I was beginning to think I was right and our apartment DOES have a portal, when we heard her bell and we heard the scratch of a paw–she had climbed inside a suitcase that was standing up in the bedroom, zipped on one side and the top. Apparently easier to get into than out of.

Before that, Burgandy came over and we ate finger food we had picked up at Giant Eagle on our way home and watched Hot Fuzz while Briggs put together my new desk chair. She fawned over Nova and her cuteness excessively and I think that Mercury went and hid as a result.

Before that, I gave Briggs back his camera (photography while driving is actually a really fun game! No time to focus or aim…completely faith based.) we went to Burlington Coat Factory and I got a new pea coat and a couple sweaters. By that time, my big boots were making my feet tired, but my legs looked long, by golly!

We went to Burlington coat factory, because after a day at the Grove city outlet malls, we had very little to show (though they have an AWESOME White House Black Market outlet), and though we had a new coat for me, and it is amazing, some days I might be in the mood to wear black rather than purple.

Walking around the HUGE complex was bloody exhausting. Petaluma Outlets gets it’s a** kicked by the Grove city outlets. We had been smart to go to the Square Cafe for a healthy delicious nutritious breakfast, and our waitress was so helpful–I had been planning on adding feta to the Veggie Overload omelet and her support of the combination just sealed the deal.

And those crepes…oh my GOD! Ricotta stuffed with whipped cream and raspberry puree…it really *was* a good thing we walked around all day.

And now homework awaits. Bleh.

Later skaters.

Wow! 2 blogs in 2 days! You guys are lucky!

Went and saw Across the Universe tonight (finally!)

It was not what I expected (which was something like a cross between Forrest Gump for the 1960s protest-era star-crossed love, and Eternal Sunshine for the surreality, minus the retarded guy) …was not set so much to a Beatles soundtrack, as much as was a musical with choreographed songs and dances by the characters, all old Beatles songs. It was a bit more silly than I expected and a tad disjointed, like the writers had a bunch of ideas, but were not quite sure how to transition from one to the next.

All that said, however, it was quite enjoyable and very cute. Just go expecting the silly and you’ll be fine. The cinematography was totally decent, the acting wasn’t bad, and thought I did not go in EXPECTING the musical nature of the movie, that facet was well done.

Before the movie Briggs and I went to dinner and had something that passed for HEALTHY food for the first time in a while…we decided to try a Chinese place that is obviously a chain, but was good for all that. Not Panda Express quality…we had seared ahi as an appetizer, and this oolong-infused seabass and spicy Dali chicken for dinner. And super delicious orange spice tea.

Today I learned that Pittsburgh is famous for zombies.

Because someone

put us on the map (for something other than steal mills and our football team) with his B-grade horror flicks.

Yeah, George Romero is from Pittsburgh. Dawn of the Dead was shot in the Monroeville mall, and apparently, they even do a zombie tour there every year and point out places where various things happened in the movie.

I just thought that was a nifty piece of trivia. :)

If I show up at your house looking discolored and asking for brains, think nothing of it, and by all means, let me inside. I have just contracted Heather’s T-virus. ;)

Brendan told me I need to blog more…

I know everyone has been devastated that I’m not blogging 5 times a day with my every craving and random wondering. I’ll try to step it up. ;)

Oh, wow…I checked my blog and realized that it really HAS been a week since I wrote! God, time flies when you’re really busy.

Well, last Saturday I went to the off-site Whinnie-the-Pooh thing, which was pretty cool. I was particularly excited because along with Disney picture books and coloring books, we also had all the classics; When We Were Very Young, Now We are Six, Whinnie-the-Pooh and The House on Pooh Corner. My mom used to read me poems from the first two ALL the time…many of which I STILL remember and adore, and I think that the characters in the two original books will always be the true inhabitants of the 100 Acre Wood for me.

I spent Monday and Tuesday immersed in homework. Yay. Nahh…I generally don’t mind my homework. You know, except when I realize that I screwed up on my value field and my darkest shade before black is really closer to a mid-shade after I add the black (my last step) and have to go back and repaint all of my fields…grr… But overall not bad. Even with that. Especially once I found a better position to paint in than hunched over the coffee table. THAT was uncomfortable.

I just ate Pillsbury frozen blueberry waffles toaster-ovened with cheddar cheese on top. TOTALLY yummy.

Oh! We got a new cat! Her name is Nova so we are keeping with the celestial theme…Mercury was REALLY upset after we brought her home on Monday, pretty upset Tuesday…but her animosity seems to be tapering off steadily. Now she just finds Nova irritating. I’ll have to take some pictures to post soon.

I seem to be doing alright in all of my classes, even if my Friday teacher makes me a little crazy…

We had Game last night and I haven’t died yet! (From what I understand, a very likely possibility with our sadistic DM.) I did, however, get slapped by one of my party members. But…I MIGHT have deserved it. Not saying definitely, but…

Last night I finally watched Music and Lyrics:

<–aww!

I thought there was a decent chance of it being good, as I adore Drew Barrymore, and think that Hugh Grant is really hot. Oh, and he isn’t a dreadful actor either. He’s no Robert Di Nero, but he doesn’t make my eyes and brain bleed either.

Anyway, it was TOTALLY sweet and cute…just what I wanted from a romantic comedy. It was just cliched enough to keep the happy romance plot, but not to the point of ‘why am I bothering to watch this?’ It was really cute and had sweet songs and fuzziness and a happy ending and made me feel squishy. :)

And it made me bitter once again that I have no ability to write music. Stupid brain that doesn’t work that way…

Anyway, it was refreshing after watching ‘Epic Movie’ the other night. MY GOD that movie sucked. I keep hoping, since Not Another Teen Movie was *really* funny and well done…but Briggs says that buy the time that Epic movie was made they probably didn’t even have any of the same people writing anymore.

<–very funny

<–not really even a little funny

Today I don’t work until 2, so after I finish writing this, Briggs and I are going to the Strip District to hit the Asian Grocery and get some new biscotti. Woo-hoo!

Tonight, after I get off work, we may FINALLY go see Across the Universe. I have been told it’s really good.

Hope everyone is generally well…xxxooo!

Love,

Week retrospective

I got homework AND housework done on Monday and Tuesday! Hurray! I made food! I changed the superly gross catbox!

<–stupid perspective! It makes me crazy!

On Wednesday I got my first grades at AIP…a 19/20 and a 15/15 accompanied by a ‘Great job!’ I also returned the 3 books that I don’t need (we got a standard set in our supply kit) to the student store, and even though I was a week late, the girl working was totally nice about it and took them back anyway. I now have about $150 in credit at the supply store that is only good until the end of winter quarter. Darn! Guess I’ll have to buy me some art supplies. I could cry. ;)

<–yay!

Thursday was work and it was good. I got to organize things and put books on shelves and be around books all day. Took FOREVER to get home, however. I have to take a bus downtown from the Southside and then catch one to the Northside from there, and both buses kept me waiting. I never knew that ‘buses’ was spelled with only two ’s’s. Shouldn’t it be pronounced ‘booses’ then?

<–our booses say things on them.
Today was school again and I wore my giant boots. Even though my in-class project in drawing from last week was turned in incomplete, since it was the first assignment, the teacher did not give me a zero. Then in perspective, we had this stupid test/assignment that the teacher did NOT give us enough info for that we just had to muddle through, and he refused to offer help or answer questions…but I got it right, thank god. Some people didn’t. I would have been pissed. I have a slight Hermoine complex.

<– “This assignment makes no sense.”

Tonight we went to Game, but pretty much everyone else who was supposed to come bailed, so we hung out for an hour or so and then we took off to go home where the food lives. Soon we will eat it.

<– party!
Tomorrow I work, but I’m going with the Kids’ books manager to an off-site…basically, there’s a play (Whinny the Poo) and we go there and sell Whinny the Poo books. I’ve been told it’s fun.

This week I discovered Suzanne Vega’s new album, Beauty & Crime. AWESOME if you like the chick music.

Also in the chick music realm, Regina Spektor is gaining my interest.

Ta for now! Love you all! xxxooo!
