Went and saw Across the Universe tonight (finally!)

It was not what I expected (which was something like a cross between Forrest Gump for the 1960s protest-era star-crossed love, and Eternal Sunshine for the surreality, minus the retarded guy) …was not set so much to a Beatles soundtrack, as much as was a musical with choreographed songs and dances by the characters, all old Beatles songs. It was a bit more silly than I expected and a tad disjointed, like the writers had a bunch of ideas, but were not quite sure how to transition from one to the next.
All that said, however, it was quite enjoyable and very cute. Just go expecting the silly and you’ll be fine. The cinematography was totally decent, the acting wasn’t bad, and thought I did not go in EXPECTING the musical nature of the movie, that facet was well done.
Before the movie Briggs and I went to dinner and had something that passed for HEALTHY food for the first time in a while…we decided to try a Chinese place that is obviously a chain, but was good for all that. Not Panda Express quality…we had seared ahi as an appetizer, and this oolong-infused seabass and spicy Dali chicken for dinner. And super delicious orange spice tea.
Today I learned that Pittsburgh is famous for zombies.
Because someone

put us on the map (for something other than steal mills and our football team) with his B-grade horror flicks.
Yeah, George Romero is from Pittsburgh. Dawn of the Dead was shot in the Monroeville mall, and apparently, they even do a zombie tour there every year and point out places where various things happened in the movie.

I just thought that was a nifty piece of trivia.
If I show up at your house looking discolored and asking for brains, think nothing of it, and by all means, let me inside. I have just contracted Heather’s T-virus.

The zombies in California are friendly. They bring you soup when you are sick and fluff your pillows. True, you still have to feed them brains, but they always say thank you afterwards.
Of course the other way I could have gone with this is “Death, even by Zombie, is actually a blessing in PA”
