abandoned online

I was going to call this ‘Befret on the Internet’ but I wasn’t able to figure out the correct spelling of befret. Unless it’s a word I just made up in my not-quite-caffinated state.

Ugh. I woke up late today.

I mean, it’s Friday, I have no school, I have no work, I just have some homework and some stuff I need to do, but I woke up so much later than I hoped to. Briggs left for work around 9:30, and I asked him to put on the kettle for me, having some sort of plan involving not sleeping much past he did. When it whistled I got up and poured water for tea, and thought about staying up until it was ready, but instead I crawled back into bed, figuring (I should never trust my own logic when I’m half asleep) that I’d wake up soon. Since I didn’t get to sleep until past 4am the thought that I might sleep a bit later should have occurred to me. But for some reason I thought that if I planned on getting up within another hour or so, I would.

I so didn’t.

I slept until 1. Or maybe 1:30.

It’s not the sleeping late that bothers me — I’m a night person — it’s the sleeping past when *I* wanted to when I have things to do. Sleeping through time I could have already been up doing homework and laundry. Sleeping past my PERSONALLY APPOINTED waking time.

Anyway.

So I came online to commune with the spirits of the ‘net while I drink my tea, and there was very little new there. A blog. A comment or two on Deviant art. An email from a slightly crazy friend. And I was done. It’s just one of those things that makes me feel…I don’t know…it’s like, if I’m super busy and hardly have time to check my email, there will be a thousand interesting and new things for me to peruse. But if I plan on spending a little while — not a big while…not a goofing off on LOLcats and reading webcomics while–just a little while while I drink my tea before I start tackling my to-do list, there will be nothing to divert me. There will be a blog as brief as the blink of a badger. There will be no new news from the drama sectors I monitor regularly. Nothing fantastical and amazing to wonder at on Deviant Art, no healthy debates to throw myself into while half asleep.

It’s chilly out. 30 or so.

It was warmer yesterday, even though it snowed. The snow was heavy and wet as it fell gracelessly and didn’t even last the day before it melted from the cracks in the sidewalks and the precipitation half-heartedly turned into rain.
