The world is trying to piss me off this week, either that or stupid people are gaining even more ground than before. Every time I turn around, it seems, I hear something that wants to make me tear my hair out.
1. Apparently the other day, Rush Limbaugah was on his show talking about how backwards looking for alternative energy sources is, saying that coal and petroleum power are what made this nation great, and went on equate turning away from them to returning to horses and buggies. This suggestion makes me so crazy, because it BLATANTLY misses the point. Yes, a lot of advances were made under the power of currently used energy sources…but in looking for something BETTER, we continue to ADVANCE. We don’t go BACKWARD! We learn NEW things and create NEW technologies, and…and…arrrh! I swear, that guy has been pissing me off since I first heard him when I was 13 years old.
Anyway, his big bullet point was ‘folks, the next time you’re at a sporting event….dramatic pause…and you see those fighter jets above…and you hear the roar and rumbling of those jet engines…burning OIL…oil turned to kerosene..J-1 fuel…not withstanding the American ingenuity that developed the jet engine…that sound you hear is the sound of FREEDOM’
And the thing is, I can listen to him and hear that the things he’s saying are CRAZY, and I would be fine with that…I mean, mental healthcare in this country is abysmal, so I can’t blame him for being unballanced….it’s the fact that so many people actually LISTEN to him and BELIEVE what he’s saying! Anyway…</rant>
2. The Creationist Fossil Museum. ‘Nuff said, really, but I’ll elaborate a little. They believe that dinosaurs lived in tandem with early man and were on Noah’s ark. They are trying to sell a mastodon head to gain $$ to keep their museum going.
3. And this morning, I heard this:
Yeah, that’s right folks. Certain Christian groups are suggesting that Heath Ledger died because God was angry that he played a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain. They are actually threatening to PICKET his FUNERAL. Who DOES that!?!?!
People piss me off so hard!!!!!! Frickin’ hell!
Anyway, I have homework waiting (another fun and involved project) and anime to watch while I do so (mmm…Fullmetal Alchemist!) so I’m outie…just wanted to darken all y’all’s day a bit.
