This shirt is cute.

If I had money, the person I would purchase it for is my mom, cause she likes geology and I think she would appreciate the cuteness of it as well, and when she wore it, the idea of a piece of earth cake would cheer her up whenever she thought about it.
I also like this one:

The whole idea just strikes me as precious.
Last night I finished Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.

I have to say, the book redeemed itself in the final third or so — all of the more laborious backgrounds and details that up to that point suddenly come together in a fantastic tapestry. I am still on the fence over whether I agree with the world fantasy award or whatever it was it got, but I now at least understand why it received such recognition. As I was trudging through the more monotonous sections I was wondering if the book had been praised for similar reasons to the movie Babble, but after completing it I am happy to report that it is not a valueless shell wrapped in the illusion of being remarkable and thought-provoking. Susannah Clark managed to wrap her story around countless corners, introducing characters seemingly at random, or for the reason of a brief interaction with one protagonist or another, and it wasn’t until reaching the end that the the pivotal nature of some of these crossed paths became clear.
It IS a job of work to get through the beginning, however.
After finishing that veritable beast of a book, and a thoroughly taxing day of classes, I decided that my brain would enjoy something much lighter. After contemplating a young adult fantasy novel I recently picked up, I decided instead on:

If you are not familiar– during the first season of the show, NBC had a companion online graphic novel that gave bits and pieces of character back-stories, filling in a little more about characters we were about to meet or have interactions with, answering questions about things that happened when the camera was turned away. They recently published the entire series into a season one comic book. That one. The one I have a picture of above. Yes! Right there! Haven’t you been paying attention? Sheesh!
Anyway, I thought that comics would be a nice, light brain-break. I had read…probably the first half or so?….when the series was online, but re-reading them was fun, reminding me of characters that might not have survived first season. There were also some very interesting stories that I hadn’t gotten to yet….like, where Linderman came from and how he got connected with the Patrellies.
I finished it before bed-time and started the first chapter of the book I had contemplated before deciding on comics:
This book is supposed to be very good…I believe that it is a novelization of the Grimms’ story of the beautiful princesses that sneak out to their fairy world at night. Ha! It is Grimms’ — the first story in the book I have. The Twelve Dancing Princesses. I think there are only seven in Wildwood Dancing, but I think it is based upon the fairytale.
The weather right now is shockingly warm — right now it is 58 degrees, and it was 59 before I went to bed last night. It’s very damp right now. According to the forecast it’s supposed to be cold and sleety by tomorrow night and snowing on Friday…but I have learned to trust the forecast as far as I can throw it…and since it is not corporeal, it is very hard to throw any distance at all.
Today I’m gonna do homework.
Oh yeah — P.S. Brendan is awesome and everyone should try to be like him.
