Well, in that the place we are moving is north of here. Not so much in that the place we currently live is in a gorgeous old Victorian house, and the place we are moving to is….well…lets just say, ‘not so much’ and leave it at that…
Anywho, this weekend is THE WEEKEND. Snuck up on me. But Briggs is going to spend a good portion of the weekend moving while I’m at work, and come Sunday night, we’ll be staying at the Foundation.
Which brings up a point I wanted to address.
At the place where the lane/driveway splits off and heads up to the house, there is a post. On this post there are two things that stick out to hang signs from, for like, the name of the family living on that road. Well, the side for the Foundation is empty, and the one on the other side has a sign that says ‘Alden’ (the people who live up that way are relatives of Briggs). I want a sign for our side, but, well…Alden is already taken, and anyway MY name isn’t Alden…
Plus
I thought it would be really cool to give the house a name, the way people do for English manors and the like, and the way posers who don’t really have English manors but want to make people think they do do as well. Stuff like ‘Windmere’ and ‘Bracken Hollow’ and ‘Puppy Frolic’ (that last one was my own creation. Pretty sweet, huh?) …also, things with ‘The’ in the title, like ‘The Breakers’, or ‘The Soggy Moor’.

(note…the place we are moving into does not entirely resemble either of the above pictured dwellings)
Ideally, I am going for something that sounds pretty, but is not so pleasant once you ponder the actual meaning of the name…like ‘Briarthorn’ or ‘Shadow Wood’.
Another possibility, since the place is already called ‘the Foundation’, simply to lengthen that to ‘The Foundation of ____’ or ‘The Foundation For_____’….(preferably with something to fill in those blanks…) we could put it on the mailbox and have it included in our mailing address…then see if we could get tax exempt status as a non-profit.
<–The Foundation for Research and Technology
ANYWAY, once again, I’m looking for ideas. Any suggestions of cool names would be appreciated, and, umm…the winner will get a PRIZE! Yeah!
