Ugh.

Tomorrow we are moving.

(we didn’t end up moving this past weekend, ’cause the internet wasn’t yet working)

Briggs’ brother in law has a trailer that can carry large items and is going to be showing up at obnoxious a.m. or so to start loading stuff in to take up. Tonight when I get home from work, we are going to dis-assemble the bed so we don’t have to worry about that first thing in the morning…probably disassemble the book case…our computers…(there’s a good chance we won’t have internet here anymore by tomorrow morning regardless, and it’s not like we’re really going to have time to sit down and surf the ‘net…)

It’s kind of amazing how much is left to do…as this has been a rather chaotic move, no essentials are packed, only the things that are not necessary for day-to-day life. ALL our dishes are still unpacked and most of our cookware…Of course, on the upside, most of our dry goods are packed. Almost none of my clothing is packed…I suppose because it seems rather silly to pack it away in boxes when we aren’t traveling across the country or anything, when I’m going to need it again so very shortly. I think that stuff in drawers can just stay in the drawers, out of the dresser…and other stuff…I don’t know…perhaps I’ll make use of a laundry basket, my hamper, some large trash bags…

Regardless…Sleep may not happen tonight. Ouch. Homework is unlikely to happen tomorrow. Ouch again.

On a more positive note, I’m reading ‘The Host’ right now

It is the newest book by Stephanie Meyer, but NOT a part of her Twilight series–

…it is an independent science fiction novel she has been working on on the side, not specifically aimed at the Young Adult market.

My boss Chris read it and said that she really enjoyed it but that it had been getting bad reviews because people were looking for another ‘Twilight’. My coworker Heather read it when she was sick and said that even though she knew she should have been resting and healing, she couldn’t put the book down and stayed up all night reading it.

I had a gap in the series I am reading this week, so I finally got a chance to take it home. I was a little concerned, since it started off a bit slow and I was worried that I wouldn’t enjoy the book because I DO like the Twilight series, but wow…once I got into the real meat of the story, I was hooked. Last night I was reading one particular scene that had me on the edge of my seat, heart accelerating in fear for the protagonist.

The basic premise is that parasitic, body-snatcher type aliens that call themselves ‘Souls’ have come to earth. There is a small human resistance at this point, but most people have been turned. These aliens believe in peace and tranquility and that they are honestly making the humans’ world better, but of course, most humans DON’T really want to be taken over by an alien.

What’s interesting about this book is that the protagonist is one of the aliens. She has been placed in the body of a girl who was a member of the human resistance, and that girl is refusing to fully vacate her body. Her presence is still very strongly there, and the one thing she cares most about is getting back to the man she loves…through here memories and emotions, the Soul comes to love him too…add an abnormally sociopathic alien human wrangler on their tail and well…

So yeah, my coworkers were right, the book has totally sucked me in and eaten large portions of my soul. I’m almost done and hovering on that balance between dying to finish it and find out what happens, and not wanting the story to end.

Soanyway….that’s more pleasant than my moving stress and wondering when the hell I’m going to do my homework this week…:)

Stay classy, internet.
