More than today’s weather

Outside it is chilly and last night’s snow is on the ground…but probably won’t be for much longer, since the temperature is hanging out near 40 f.

This is the weather icon for today:

To celebrate the new year, Briggs and I went to Becky’s shindig. With my corset and petticoat, my dangling jewelry and a pound or so of glitter, I felt like a left-over Christmas ornament. The party was lovely–there was, of course, food galore, and I got to see Becky and Abby and Dan and SB and Pierce, and as long as I was rock-banding, the large number of people wasn’t overly daunting.

(note to Brendan — Yes. Rock Band is awesome and you need it.)

Anyway, it was fun, but not too long after the year ticker rolled up a peg, Briggs’ exhaustion and my aversion to social situations (not to mention the stabbing of my corset–I frickin’ hate plastic boning. Does anyone know if I could take it to a tailor and get it replaced with something real-er?) had reached a point of, if not immediacy, but maybe of ‘well…we should probably head back now before the caffeine is gone and Ra has freaked out and killed people. Or hidden in a corner and refused to come out.’

Anyway, Briggs and I decided to start the New year with productiveness. We kind of overslept, and then Anna and Aaron and the kids got home, so we went to visit…and as a result, didn’t get to paperwork, but DID re-arrange our room! Hurray! Some parts are still a little in limbo, but overall, I like it way better. I now have a nook.

Last night, we watched Charlie Bartlet. It was great. You should watch it too. It’s the story of a bright, rich young man, in public school for the first time, who just wants to be liked, and honestly, has his heart in the right place…but just has a tendency to end up on the wrong side of the law. But really…he’s trying to help.

Today, more projects lie ahead of me. It’s merely a question of which to tackle first. But I woke up in a bed with two cats in it, which I consider an excellent sign. Now I need to go make more Almond Vanilla black tea, and get started. :)
