So, I’ve been recently enjoying the happy feeling caused by looking at cute animals via CuteOverload. They offer photos and videos of super cute aminals doing super cute things.
However.
I have found myself destroying that sense of giddy well-being induced by adorable fuzziness when I see a picture or video that I suspect will irritate the ‘I know everything about animals and you don’t’ contingent of the viewers and I intentionally browse the comments for the the words of these cuteness spoil-sports to intake their clarion calls of ‘inhumane!’ or ‘that’s not funny or cute…it’s cruel. That animal could get hurt.’
(Note, these are in response to things like a dog’s excited whining, or a kitten attempting a jump and not quite making it….not mexican dog fights or shaving chickens with dull razors.)
This is the kind of irritating stupidity that grates on my nerves like fingernails on frosted glass…yet I intentionally hunt down and read these comments rather than simply reveling in the cute.
WHY am I doing this? I don’t know.
I have a problem.
