Dr. Planet Bob, codename Brendan

My fishie is a strange fishie.

He takes naps.

Maybe this is normal beta behavior?  Last time I had one I was rather young.

The first time I saw him laying down on top of his little rock shelf, I was sure he was gravely ill…but I opened the lid and he perked up in hopes of getting fed.  Now I still raise my eyebrows, but accept that it’s just something he does.

This morning, he was hanging motionless in the top floor of his pagoda, and again I was sure he was sick or dead, perhaps prevented from floating to the top due to the pagoda top above him….but I opened the tank to offer him breakfast and he swam out all shiny colors and swirly fins, eager for his meal.

My fishie is also a smart fishie…he recognizes his food containers when I pick them up.  He’s a fishie genius.  Which makes sense…I mean he IS an MD.  Can you imagine how hard it must be for a fish to get through med school?
