Exhausted

Who knew you could get so tired sitting on a couch all day?

I have been really buckling down trying to get everything I need to done before my end-of-March deadline, and that means pretty much any day I’m not in school, I sit on my sofa and do nothing but homework.

I did it yesterday…8 hours designing website designs for my Flash website.  Despite the shiny new blanket of snow that my boyfriend called to tell me was pristine and waiting for a sled.

I did it today, researching and emailing for an informational interview, and finishing up a project for my Illustrator class.  By the time I got to designing a logo for a Design Studio client, I was toast.  I’m irritable and just want to get out of the house.  Were it still light out, I would go for a walk, but in the under 20 degree weather on the ice and snow and dark, that doesn’t seem like a good choice.  Instead, I think I will break up my homework trance by doing the dishes.  The task seems almost inviting at the moment.

But my point is, I’m exhausted…and it’s not the short night of sleep I got last night from staying up to finish a project…it’s just sitting here all day for two days in a row, not moving around, just working.

It is necessary…I’ve been making progress.  I have my website up –it’s not beautiful, but it’s up.  I have one page of my book illustrated and one side of my backdrop illustrated.  I have ordered my portfolio and know where I’m ordering my business cards and t-shirts just as soon as I have money.  If I stick to this schedule, I WILL be able to get everything done, so long as I avoid a mental breakdown.

But I’ll tell you something…I am REALLY looking forward to finishing this quarter.  Aside from the desire to rest and to clean my house and to work on projects *I* want to on my own deadline, even if I have a job waiting for me the Monday after I graduate (I hope not…I plan to aim for at least a week off to recuperate…but better job right away than no job!) it will still not compare to this quarter.

oh c**p.

Tonight I realized I have 6 more weeks of school left.

A month and a half.

I know what you’re thinking.  “Awesome!  Almost done!  That must feel great!”

You obviously haven’t seen my to-do list.

Along with my regular classwork (which this quarter includes multiple projects for real clients in my honors class, designing, printing and assembling my portfolio and updating and fixing or properly photographing a few past projects, and building my own website in Flash) I need to:

–Illustrate a 4′x6′ backdrop for my portfolio review

–Figure out exactly how I’m going to set up my portfolio review display

–Order my portfolio book

–Order business cards

–Order screen-printed t-shirts

–Find the paper i want to use for my resume and get that printed

–Get my long-term website up and running

–Re-illustrate, layout and print my children’s book

–Assemble self-promo kits (after all the stuff I need is printed and in my hands)

…I think I’m going to have to put my drawing-a-day on a pseudo-hiatus after tonight — not in a ‘no longer making a drawing a day’ fashion, but in a ‘drawing a day has to be work for graduation stuff’ way.

UGH.

TOO MUCH STUFF.
